"Church on Campus" -
a place where you ...

... can study without disturbance

You have to write your term paper or thesis and it’s too noisy at home? You want to meet with a study group and are looking for a place to exchange ideas? Then you are welcome in our seminar room, which also offers you a safe haven in stressful exam and writing phases.

... can find advice and a sympathetic ear

Do you think your life is getting way too complicated in terms of your studies, your relationship with your partner and/or family, when it comes to questions of faith or simply the "normal" everyday life? Or does your situation even feel too overwhelming sometimes? Then you will find a place here with us where someone can simply listen to you or can even give you some new impulses and ideas. We, Benedikt Ströher-Eisenach and Christian Schäfer, are there for you providing pastoral counselling. Of course, the conversations are strictly confidential.

... can have a (fair trade) coffee in peace

You need a break from university life? Are you looking for a comfortable place to relax ? You want to get together with friends or meet new people? Then you are welcome in our lounge. Here you can enjoy a fair trade coffee or tea, which you can take from our small kitchen.

... find silence and contemplation

Are you looking for a place to keep your faith alive, in silence or in prayer? Then you are very welcome to visit our room of silence. Here we regularly offer peace meditations and prayers, but you can also go in there alone or with others in order to pray or meditate . The Bible and other sacred writings are available here in more than 15 different languages. Do you think you can find them in your mother tongue, too?

“Church on Campus” (Kirche am Campus) is a joint project of the Protestant Student Community (Evangelische Studierendengemeinde – ESG) and the Catholic University Community (Katholische Hochschulgemeinde – KHG) at the Witzenhausen campus of the University of Kassel. ESG and KHG consider themselves as part of the worldwide Christian Church, to be connected to all Christian communities, and to stand in solidarity with everyone searching for God. The unifying foundation of our community is faith in Jesus Christ and listening to the Word of God. We live together on the basis of Christian values. That’s why we are committed to open-mindedness and tolerance and why we don’t accept discrimination of any kind. We are an open and vibrant place where people of all cultures and religions are welcome. A family atmosphere is important to us, so everyone can develop personally and creatively.
